Today, on Holy Thursday, March 24 2016 at 8 PM, the Orchestra, Chorus and Soloists of Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka are performing Bach’s masterpiece, St. John Passion, for the first time in the city of Rijeka. They are joined by the local youth choir Schola Cantorum. Tibor Bogányi, the principal conductor of Pannon Philharmonic, will conduct. Last July maestro Bogányi was member of the jury of the International Competition for Young Singers „Zinka Milanov“. Less than a year later, the Second Prize winner, tenor Ibrahim Yesilay, will perform extremely demanding tenor arias in Bach’s oratorio. Ibrahim was recently enageged by the special Opera Studio of Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf, along with only a few most talented young singers from around the world.

At the concert in Rijeka, Ibrahim will perform with leading soloists of the Opera in Rijeka, head by the eminent bas-baritone Giorgio Surian.
